2/27/2024 0 Comments Traxxas slash drag![]() ![]() Their ruggedness would be perfect for the high-grip launches of drag racing. We decided to keep the MIP HD Slash CVD axles that were on our donor Slash. When flipping the tranny to a mid-motor configuration, you need to account for the toe and a set of Custom Works adjustable rear arms checked that box nicely. Getting all that power to the wheels is handled through a Pro-Line Slash transmission. The shorty pack lets us move the battery around based on track conditions and its 175C discharge rate lets the ESC eat as much as it wants while the Graphene keeps the heat concerns down. This battery is light, small and entirely awesome. We were able to get our hands on their newest release, the MaxAmps 2s 4750mah True 175C Graphene Shorty Pack. The third section is often overlooked but with all these high end electronics you need to feed them power and if you want performance, you choose MaxAmps. At 2.2 ounces, the extra weight was a smarter choice up front versus other options.Īt the end of the day you just don’t want to worry about the slightest glitch when you are going that fast… Besides geeking out on the specs and programmability of the servo, it just looks cool. We opted for the BLS371SV servo that we have wanted to use in a high-end build for some time. The leader in RC transmitters since before we can remember has always been Futaba and even though drag car steering is minimal, the reliability, confidence and tunability is why you choose them. The electronics can be broken up into three sections, first being control. The DRC Slash pack chassis kit came with red anodized steering bell crank and linkage so we opted for the Matching red aluminum servo horn. ![]() Finishing touches were added with by installing red Traxxas steering and camber links and rod ends as well as their Bandit front bumper. To finish up the front suspension, we went with a shortened Pro-Line Powerstroke front shock and the Pro-2 clamping front hexes. The Pro-2 hub kit was used in place of some generic aftermarket parts we had on the donor car, while a Pro-2 front hinge pin brace kept things tight. The Pro-2 front arms have covered cutouts that if needed, could be filled with something like Liquid Gravity to keep the front down to help balance the chassis. They really do make it all for the Slash. We ordered up Pro-2 front arms and hub kit, Powerstroke front shocks, hinge pin brace, clamping hexes, transmission, body mounts, tires, wheels and body. A household name in performance upgrade products for the Slash is Pro-Line Racing. Since the donor car has seen its share of basher abuse, we picked up a set of RC Screws Slash Bearings as well as their Slash screw kit so we could start with a clean slate. With the foundation laid, we started the build. Inside the box were several bags of carbon fiber and red anodized aluminum parts that when put together, made up the complete Slash Mid Motor Drag Pak. It was so light we figured that he had only sent over a wheelie bar. He said, “I know what you what you need.”Ī couple days later a box showed up. Lupi explained the ins and outs of the drag racing scene, the rules and of course, his products. A call to Kenneth Lupi at Drag Race Concepts (DRC) got the ball rolling. After scouring the internet for chassis manufacturers, one name kept showing up on the fastest and best builds out there. Working from front to back, the Traxxas Slash got a complete makeover starting with its chassis. Needless to say, Guarnieri pulled his Traxxas Slash off the shelf of neglect, vowing to take it to the extreme. As competitive as we are at RCCA, Associate Publisher Leigh Guarnieri, decided to jump in the game as well. A couple issues back, our Senior Editor Kevin Hetmanski, dove into the “no prep” drag racing scene by pulling an old 2WD Traxxas Slash off the shelf and turning it into the Oakley Corvette dragster. 2/27/2024 0 Comments Dasboot gameThe boat never fell to more than 200 meters and it did not stay under water for more than 24 hours.Īfter the bomb hit the submarine dived to about 20-30 meters and could be held there, but it was clear that this depth could not be held for long because the diesel engine room bilge was running full. I think it’s natural to read prose and demand meaning from it, or recognition, and that isn’t something you’ll get consistently from Illuminations. The more I got to know the poems, the more I liked them. Which is kinda silly, yes, but lovely nevertheless. However, as I returned to the book over the following weeks certain images and lines jumped out at me, demanded my attention lines like:Ī hare paused amid the gorse and trembling bellflowers and said its prayer to the rainbow through the spider’s web Yet, I didn’t immediately love the poems reading the book cover-to-cover in one sitting my attention started to waver, my concentration flag the most I could say was that I had enjoyed it, but hadn’t been particularly moved. ![]() So, eventually, feeling more well-disposed towards Rimbaud and a little excited by the growing hype, I bought a pretty hardback version of the book. I was aware, at that point, that a fuss had been made of Ashbury’s translation of Illuminations, and periodically I’d catch a review or a mention of it somewhere. I had come back to live in the north of England, and there are less of those boys up here, and so the stain started to fade. It wasn’t until a year or so ago that my attitude changed. And, listen, I’m generally pretty tolerant my attitude is each to their own, as long as you’re not hurting anyone, it’s just that I can’t take these people seriously, and so that sense of ridiculousness left a stain on Rimbaud too. I don’t know if these characters exist in other parts of the world, but here in England there is a breed of boy who are, well, pretty unclean, and who consider themselves to be libertines and decadents, and so wibble on about French poetry and their own excruciatingly abysmal poetry, and their music, and they’ll usually also be holding a flower …well, those boys always fucking love Rimbaud. My other problem with Rimbaud was, in all honesty, not about the man but a certain kind of person who likes him. And to some extent that opinion is valid, in that my favourites of his works are the final two. I was of the opinion that one could show promise but not create something truly worthwhile at an age when most people’s greatest achievement is not being caught jacking off by their parents. Could someone really be that good at 15? I didn’t think so. I must admit that his age was a bit of a problem. The enfant terrible! The precocious teenager! The first modern man-boy! Ah. How to start, then? For a long time I was suspicious of Rimbaud I approached him with some prejudices. So, I’m going to have to piece something together off the cuff apologies if it’s a bit weak. ![]() ![]() ![]() My head, my mind, refuses to play ball whatever ability I might have had to complete ’s Illuminations has seemingly died at the bottom of a toilet bowl, was thrown up into that toilet bowl – along with my liver, spleen, kidneys – sometime early this morning. Anyway, I’ve been unable to bring the thing to completion. It’s not particularly Rimbaudean, because to be strictly Rimbaudean you would have to give up on reviewing the book altogether, his work being wholly personal and esoteric. Pigeoned in apprehension, he strove with his inexactitude, then was lost amidst the shallow lapping of his years. O sweet poems – all prosed all read – all sweet unknowing! The first one, which was written before any alcohol was imbibed is below: I had intended this review to be my own version of Rimbaud’s Illuminations, a series of short prose-poems about the work and its author. I used to own an Athena "Ivoice" Ipod dock that broke one day, and it was great to be able to return it for a refund. I also like that I bought this unit at Costco, because a lot of consumer electronics these days are just not built to last, so it's a nice feeling knowing it had a lifetime, no questions asked warranty to return and get a refund. I'll never use it but the remote control is really nice, made partly out of metal with a very solid feel and a pretty good layout of buttons. So being able to go investigate and/or buy the song, later when I sync my Ipod, seems like a good idea. Some of the HD2 stations will play some artist that sounds good but am not familiar with. The "tagging" feature, which seemed gimmicky at first, could be kind of useful. ![]() Overall it feels like a fairly heavy, well built unit. ![]() The volume and tuning dials feel a bit flimsy, but everything else is good. Overall feel of the unit is pretty solid. With this radio I can get more stations without the antenna preamp hooked up, or having the antenna in the window. FM and HD receptions seems to be quite good, somewhat better than my Boston Acoustics Receptor HD. I was happy to see this feature, for listening late at night, since many radios and Ipod docks lack a phones jack Rear panel headphone jack sounds good, nice and clean with no background noise, unlike the phones jack in the Sony HD radio I used to own. Not a big deal since there will be plenty of times the radio sits turned off, to charge the unit. The one weird thing is that the ipod will not charge if the radio is on, it only charges when the radio is turned off. Ipod dock works well with my Ipod touch. Seems to be a good level of detail in the sound. The sound remains pretty clear when cranked louder. The speakers are quite small but the bass ports on the back help out a bit. Sound is pretty good, nothing amazing but not bad at all (and I'm pretty picky about sound, coming from a recording engineer career background). ![]() Here are some various impressions after very limited use of it: So, I picked up this radio today at Costco, and after some initial use of it, I think it's a keeper for me. I will be returning it, but it is almost there. Originally Posted by rwagoner /forum/post/15824030 But the shortcomings it has make me like my old one better. Maybe as good as the small speakers can get. No bass and treble, just EQ settings that are OK. The model I have is probably defective, but be aware of this potential problem. But when I use AM HD, it makes the radio respond VERY S-L-O-W-L-Y to anything, such as volume changing, station changing, or anything else you might want to do. Reception seems as good as typical both on AM or FM. It ramps up fairly quickly, but at least it doesn't startle. Sound ramps up for the alarm until it reaches a setting you select. Screen can be read easily, again like an iHome. Unlike the iHome line, they don't have a barely-on setting that can be nicely used in a bedroom unless you want to turn it off and on.
